Hi everyone! My name is Lauren, and I am a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I earned my Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Health Services and my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from CACREP-accredited Western Michigan University.
I have experience in a variety of therapeutic settings, including substance use rehabilitation, co-responder crisis work, correctional facilities, and outpatient therapy. Additionally, I have specialized training in trauma therapy, equine-assisted psychotherapy, and foundational Internal Family Systems Therapy.
My work has brought me alongside correctional officers, veterans, firefighters, EMS personnel, and law enforcement officers—both in crisis response teams and correctional facilities. This firsthand experience within an integrated team gives me a unique understanding of the ongoing challenges these professionals face, including the struggle to prioritize mental health. I also appreciate the unique coping mechanisms, like humor, that help manage these stressors while maintaining the demands of the job.
I am committed to providing a safe, non-judgmental space where you can navigate life’s stressors and improve overall well-being. My client-centered approach builds a strong therapeutic alliance based on unconditional positive regard, empathy, and understanding. I strive to foster positive change by enhancing self-worth and improving relationships.
My practice incorporates evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, person-centered care, solution-focused therapy, insight-oriented therapy, motivational interviewing, and relational approaches.
In my free time, I enjoy riding my horse, walking on the beach, kayaking, scuba diving, and spending time with my animals.
