Lauren Whitehurst, M.A, LMHC is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor experienced working with diverse, and underserved populations with co-occurring disorders. Lauren’s experience includes work within inpatient facilities, the correctional system, and crisis work. Lauren’s experience also includes work with individuals with substance use disorders. Lauren received both her Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Health Services, and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from CACREP accredited Western Michigan University. Lauren’s treatment approach includes: Person centered therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, CBT and trauma-informed care. Lauren focuses on establishing a therapeutic alliance that is built through unconditional positive regard, empathy and understanding. Lauren seeks to assist positive change, by working towards established goals and building an increased level of self-worth within each individual.

In her spare time, Lauren enjoys spending time outdoors and with her animals. She enjoys riding her horse, walking along the beach and pursuing her new passion, scuba diving.
